Building on the explorations of Kinesic I this project aimed to create tangible, changeable additions to mixed digital-physical space. Beginning with a virtual reality space, a NURBS editor was developed that allowed the user to create adaptable curved surfaces. A passthrough was then implemented to see just how this impacted the space they were in, creating a live interactive spatial editor.
NURBS editors, a staple in architectural design that have allowed the creation of free flowing forms, are generally involved and arcane. The gestural method of adaptation, coupled with the ability to explore the space during development gave the users of Kinesic II the ability to intuitively play with the space and gain a better understanding of how to alter the environment around them.
